Baker. Black and White Rabbit's ABC

Black and White Rabbit's ABC is a children's book by Alan Baker, with art by the author, published in 1994. It is available at the Internet Archive. This is an alphabet-based chain, with the letters of the alphabet being used to tell a story! Both the story and the illustrations are exquisite.

The story starts with an apple which the rabbit puts on a box; then he gets a crayon so he can draw a picture, using his easel, but the apple falls, so he gets some glue to stick it onto the box, but then he is hopping with sticky paws, and there's a bottle of ink: when he jumps, he kicks it over, and it leaks, so he has to mop it up, and his nose has ink on it, as you can see here... maybe you can make up the rest of the story on your own and then compare it to the author's story, which is absolutely adorable. It is one of the best alphabet books I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot of alphabet books!).

There are so many YouTube read-alongs; here is just one of them:

Inspired by this beautiful book, I just ordered some more of Baker's "Rabbit" books: shapes, numbers, colors, telling time, and more! I'll add an update here about my favorites after they arrive.
